With Thibaut Courtois said to be on his way to Real Madrid, Chelsea have taken certain steps to secure a proper goalkeeping replacement for the Belgium international.

According to the reports coming from Spain, Blues have agreed a deal with Athletic Bilbao over a summer transfer of talented goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga.

The 23-year-old shot stopper only signed a contract extension this January which allowed Athletic Bilbao to cool off Real Madrid interest but Chelsea are not budging ahead of Kepa’s €80 million release clause and appear to be willing to break the world record goalkeeper fee.

Diario AS states Athletic Bilbao custodian is due to arrive in London before the transfer window closes on Thursday with Maurizio Sarri believed to have made a personal suggestion to his superiors over the Spanish goalkeeper.

Kepa is coming off from a fine season which saw him make 30 La Liga appearances and establish himself as one of the biggest goalkeeping talents in Spain.
