By their own incredibly high standards, Spanish super club Real Madrid are having a dreadful season. Los Blancos currently sit fourth in La Liga table, a whopping 17 points behind their eternal rivals Barcelona, and ten behind their city rivals Atletico.
While Cristiano Ronaldo has been returning to form in the last few games, he did not start the season at all well, and both Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale have also been struggling, with form and injuries respectively.
The slide down the table has caused a lot of anxiety around the club, and the Madrid hierarchy are reportedly growing tired of waiting for Bale to return to fitness. With that in mind they are plotting to swap him, as well as £100m, for Chelsea star Eden Hazard, according to the Express.
Hazard has been heavily linked with a move to the Spanish capital for some time, and this reported deal is certainly one that will get Chelsea, and the rest of the footballing world, to sit up and take notice.
The Belgian has registered 11 goals and two assists so far this season, continuing his good form from the previous campaign, in which the Blues emerged as emphatic title-winners. He is one of the top talents in European football, and would make a frightening addition to an already stacked Madrid squad.
